Description
This is our 4th year of procuring Desi Ivy Gourd Shoot (Pencil Donda Sapling) from our farmers and are very proud that many members had a pleasant growing experience, albeit battling pests/diseases that affect it during and after flowering stage. Subsequently, we had addressed many problems affecting Ivy Gourd/Donda through our Plant Doctor service, where our expert suggestions are shared with concerned members on WhatsApp.
Most Common Pests/Diseases Affecting Ivy Gourd/Donda are:
- Powdery Mildew
We all hate this fungus, don’t we? It affects most of our Gourds and flowering plants, with the fungus spores feeding on top of the leaves giving a ‘powdery’ texture. Powdery Mildew spreads quickly with the change of season and morning dew.
How To Control Powdery Mildew in Natural Farming?
– Tending to your plants regularly is key. We strongly advise all members to be on constant lookout especially during change of season.
– Mix 1tbsp Baking Soda in 1ltr water and spray on all your plants affected with Mildew. After 3-4 days, mix 1 cup of Raw Milk in 6 cups of water and repeat the same.
– Regular dusting with Cowdung Ash helps deter spreading of fungal spores.
– Accumulation of dust on leaves exasperates your plant’s vulnerabilities further. It is a best practice to water off dust. - Aphids
